The core characteristics of wooden playground equipment are its natural and environmentally friendly nature, safety and comfort, durability and malleability, and aesthetic and educational value. However, it requires professional anti-corrosion treatment and regular maintenance.
1. Natural and Environmentally Friendly: Made from natural wood (such as preservative-treated African teak, Russian ash, or Nordic red pine), it is renewable, low-pollution, and releases no harmful substances such as formaldehyde. It easily blends with green landscapes, aligning with ecological education concepts.
2. Safety and Comfort: The surface is sanded and treated with environmentally friendly varnish/wood wax oil, providing a warm, non-cold feel, moderate friction, and better cushioning than metal/plastic. Rounded edges reduce the risk of bumps and knocks. However, it is not "non-flammable" and must meet flame-retardant standards (such as Class C fire resistance).
3. Durable Structure: High-quality wood, after dehydration, carbonization, and pressure anti-corrosion treatment (grade ≥ C3), is resistant to insects and has good weather resistance. With normal maintenance (1-2 varnishes per year), it can last 10-15 years. Metal fasteners should be hot-dip galvanized for rust prevention. Highly versatile in design: easy to sculpt and customize themes (treehouse, castle, pirate ship, etc.), supports non-motorized interactive structures (climbing nets, slides, rocking bridges), and stimulates physical and social exploration.
